Our first stop in Bryce was supposed to be Sunset Point, but we missed the turn and we were at Natural Bridge before I realized it. We decided to stop, so I could try to get a better picture of this mammoth formation, since the last time we were here my camera couldn’t photograph the whole arch.
Not wanting to miss an opportunity to get out of the car, Emily asked if she could come with me. So off we went. As we approached the viewpoint, Emily started asking, “Daddy, take my picture.” She wasn’t satisfied until I had done so.

My oldest daughter, Emily, loves rainbows. One of her favorite songs is “Over the Rainbow” and she has two rainbow nightgowns. During our trip we saw several rainbows, which delighted Emily. On one of our drives, she kept asking me to drive to the end of the rainbow, and when she realized that I was going to follow her wishes, she started informing the rest of us of the rainbows status: “I can see rainbow, I can see rainbow, I don’t see rainbow.”
So, when I pointed out this rainbow to her she was thrilled. She kept telling everyone who passed by that there was a rainbow.
There is actually a very faint double rainbow in this photo, which I caught by accident. I don’t remember seeing the double rainbow at the time, but when I looked at my photos later I realized that I had captured both rainbows in quite a few of the photos I had taken.

Horseshoe Bend, September 2009
On our way from Bryce Canyon National Park to Grand Canyon National Park, we stopped for a look at Horseshoe Bend. I was simply amazed at this marvel the Colorado River has cut into the earth.

During our trip, we decided to spend an extra day at the Grand Canyon. As a result, I was treated to a beautiful sunrise our last morning in the park.
I made an effort to get up for sunrise each morning while we were at the Grand Canyon, and each day was treated to some beautiful sunrises and spectacular scenery.
