Lady Liberty: New York, July 2001 In July of 2001, Rachelle and I visited her brother and his wife in New York. One highlight of our visit was the opportunity to take a harbor tour around Manhattan. Along the way, we were treated to magnificent views of the Statue of Liberty. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)

The Trail Goes Down: Bryce Canyon National Park, September 2001 Rachelle and I decided to hike a little ways down the Queens Garden Trail from Sunrise Point into Bryce Amphitheater. Before we knew it we had gone all the way down into the canyon. Since it was relatively flat at the bottom and we were going to have to hike back out anyways, we decided to hike around the Amphitheater and climb back up on the Navajo Loop Trail at Sunset Point and return to our starting point via the Rim Trail. Looking Down: Bryce Canyon National Park, September 2001 Looking down into Bryce Amphitheater from the rim at the thousands of hoodoos made Rachelle and I want to hike through it. We briefly considered changing our travel plans and returning to Bryce the next day to hike the Queens Garden trail through Bryce Amphitheater, but in the end we decided to take a short hike down from the rim and continue with our previous plan to visit Zion National Park the following day. Bryce Point: Bryce Canyon National Park, September 2001 Our next stop was Bryce Point, which offers an incredible view from the southern end of Bryce Amphitheater, the largest of the natural amphitheaters located within the park’s boundaries. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)

A Far View: Bryce Canyon National Park, September 2001 Along our way we stopped at Farview Point and hiked the short trail out to Piracy Point. This shot was taken along the trail between the two overlooks and is facing southward. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)
