One Last View: Grand Teton National Park, September 2003 The Cathedral Group rises from the valley floor.

Henry Ford Museum: Rachelle and Emily pose in front of Henry Ford Museum. Henry Ford Museum began as Henry Ford’s personal collection of historic objects. Based on his desire to preserve items of historical significance and portray the Industrial Revolution, the museum is a collection of antique machinery, pop culture items, automobiles, locomotives, aircraft. Some of the items housed in the museum: last horse-drawn vehicle used by an American president (Theodore Roosevelt—who disliked the automobile), a collection of Presidential limousines (including the one in which President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and the vehicle used by President Ronald Reagan when he was shot by John Hinckley, Jr.), the rocking chair from Ford’s Theater in which President Abraham Lincoln was sitting when he was shot, and the bus on which civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat. “I am collecting the history of our people as written into things their hands made and used…. When we are through, we shall have reproduced American life as lived, and that, I think, is the best way of preserving at least a part of our history and tradition…” ~Henry Ford

Minerva Terrace: Yellowstone National Park, September 2003 This area used to be quite active and colorful, but an earthquake shifted the underground plumbing drying it up. As a kid I saw it in its former glory. You can see my dad’s photos of this area from way back when. Perhaps someday the plumbing underneath this fabulous formation will change and it will return to its former activity.

Evening Light on the Badlands: Badlands National Park, September 2003 This was taken while I was scouting locations to photograph the next morning. Compare this shot to a similar photo I took the next day.

Blueberry Smile: Emily had her first blueberry picking experience. Rachelle and some friends took her, and she was fascinated by it. She was amazed to find those tasty blueberries on the bushes and even on the ground. When she discovered that Mommy was putting th blueberries in her bucket, Emily decided to carry the bucket around. She also made friends with another little boy who was picking blueberries and then feeding them to Emily.
