Minerva Terrace: Yellowstone National Park, September 2003 This area used to be quite active and colorful, but an earthquake shifted the underground plumbing drying it up. As a kid I saw it in its former glory. You can see my dad’s photos of this area from way back when. Perhaps someday the plumbing underneath this fabulous formation will change and it will return to its former activity.

Evening Light on the Badlands: Badlands National Park, September 2003 This was taken while I was scouting locations to photograph the next morning. Compare this shot to a similar photo I took the next day.
