Waiting in Line: Newport, Rhode Island, July 2001 The next morning in Newport, RI, we headed to The Breakers, the summer home of some members of the Vanderbilt family. And what a home it was. We had to wait in line a bit to take a tour of the house, and unfortunately, I couldn’t take any photos of the interior. But take my word for it the house is splendid and opulent. The Vanderbilts knew how to live in high comfort. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)
Crashing Waves: Newport, Rhode Island, July 2001 After visiting my brother-in-law and his wife in Nyack, New York, Rachelle and I decided to visit the historic mansions in Newport, RI. We spent some time on our fist evening walking along the shore. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)
Tell Me Your Stories, Ladies: Arches National Park, September 2001 After our visit to Zion National Park in September of 2001, we headed across Utah to visit Arches National Park. Once we were inside Arches, we were amazed by the surreal scenery we encountered. Both Rachelle and I felt as though we had been transported to some alien planet. The Three Gossips is a sandstone formation in the Courthouse Towers section of the park. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)

View from the Tunnel: Zion National Park, September 2001 A portion of the Zion—Mount Carmel Highway passes through a 1.1-mile long tunnel that was built in the 1920s. Sections of the tunnel have been cut away; so visitors can enjoy some some truly spectacular scenery. I drove past one very slowly, so Rachelle had time to take this shot. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)
