I live in Oak Ridge, TN with my wife Rachelle and our daughter, Emily. I work as a web developer for ORAU.

It’s a Long Climb Up: Cape Hatteras National Seashore, April 2004 Looking up the stairwell of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. It takes 257 steps to get to the balcony. The key to making it to the top was slow and steady. Once we reached the balcony, we were treated to great views and strong winds. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse: Cape Hatteras National Seashore, April 2004 In 1999 to preserve the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse from destruction due to beach erosion, the lighthouse was moved about a half mile inland to its present location. The lighthouse is open to the public and Rachelle and I took the 257 steps necessary to reach the balcony of the lighthouse. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)

Keeper’s Quarters: Cape Hatteras National Seashore, April 2004 The quarters for the lighthouse keeper and his assistants. When the lighthouse was moved in 1999, these buildings were relocated to their present locations. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)

Breathe!: Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, April 2004 We spent some time walking along the North Pond Wildlife trail at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge during our visit to the Outer Banks. We saw several turtles, including this one, which came up for a breath of fresh air. We also saw many different types of wading birds along our walk. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)
